Paradox Cat GmbH is a specialist software development partner in the area of real-time graphics from Munich, Germany. As a partner and supplier of various premium automotive manufacturers, we support graphical interface development for high-end in car cluster instruments and infotainment systems. In addition to this, PARADOX CAT GmbH has increasingly participated in Proof of Concept projects and feasibility studies in the Human Machine Interaction (HMI) spectrum. Here, we focus on the implementation of new emerging technologies and their usability and implementation in the car of the future.
Senior Embedded Platform & Linux Engineer FREELANCER (f/m/d) - Munich
You will:
Develop and integrate Embedded C/C++ software for ARM-based platforms
Bring up target hardware and integrate Yocto-based Board Support Packages, including bootloader, Linux Kernel, Device Tree, drivers and peripheral interfaces

Create and maintain Yocto layers, BitBake recipes and reproducible build, flashing and deployment environments
Debug complex hardware and software issues using GDB, JTAG, logs, traces and Linux performance tools
Analyze system performance, memory usage, startup behavior and I/O bottlenecks
Support display, GPU, network and system integration in close collaboration with software, graphics and QA engineers
Coordinate technical topics with customers, hardware suppliers and platform vendors, document results and share knowledge within the team
You have:
A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, embedded systems, a comparable qualification, or equivalent experience
Several years of professional embedded software development experience with strong Embedded C and Embedded C++ skills
Practical experience with ARM-based SoCs or microcontrollers, board bring-up and hardware-near development
Strong knowledge of Embedded Linux, Yocto, BitBake, OpenEmbedded, Device Tree, BSP integration and cross-compilation
Experience with Linux Kernel configuration, device drivers and bootloaders such as U-Boot
Practical target-hardware debugging experience using GDB and JTAG, SWD or comparable technologies
A structured approach to root-cause analysis and experience with Git and agile development
An excellent standard of written and spoken English
Nice to have:
Experience with NXP i.MX platforms, ideally i.MX 95, heterogeneous Cortex-A/Cortex-M systems or vendor-specific BSPs and SDKs
Knowledge of FreeRTOS, secure boot, Ethernet, TSN, IEEE 1588 or embedded performance tools such as perf, ftrace and kgdb
Experience integrating display controllers, GPU drivers, OpenGL ES, EGL or Vulkan
Experience with CI/CD, automated image creation, flashing and deployment
Automotive, industrial, commercial vehicle or functional safety experience
Knowledge of written and spoken German
