Job description

Walaris designs and develops AI-driven, software-defined, and hardware-enabled autonomous systems for defense and security applications. Our software platform uses artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and edge computing to provide real-time situational awareness for air, land, and sea domains, enabling rapid decisions at machine speed. Our cutting-edge technology is utilized by customers across the defense, national security, government, marine, and critical infrastructure protection markets worldwide.

Software engineers at Walaris are at the core of our company, tackling complex and mission-critical technical challenges with the latest technologies. They integrate real-time machine learning and image processing systems with advanced hardware and are constantly designing innovative software solutions. Working in cross-functional, international teams, our engineers consistently strive to exceed customer expectations.

For our office in Nuremberg, we are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) starting as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Develop real-time AI/ML processing systems for edge sensor signal processing, such as drone detection and automated target recognition.

Continuously propose new concepts for our software architecture, particularly focused on back-end improvements, to enhance performance and meet evolving customer requirements.

Integrate Walaris software and technology into military and security systems to add autonomous capabilities and boost overall system performance.

Define work packages for subcontractors and review development deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with project goals.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that requirements from R&D, sales, and product management are fully integrated and effectively addressed throughout the development process.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field

Extensive experience as a software engineer specializing in real-time, high-throughput data processing, ideally within AI-driven applications

In-depth knowledge of object-oriented software development in Python or C++, and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, Flask, GStreamer, and Deepstream

Strong expertise in software development on Linux platforms

Proficient in developing unit tests to ensure code quality.

Experience working with Docker and are familiar with CI/CD tools such as GitLab pipelines or Jenkins

Strong English skills, inde­pendent work style, and enthusiasm for teamwork
