Job description

We are an innovative aerospace startup seeking a Senior Flight Control System Engineer to join our team and who is curious about new technologies such as Autonomous operation and INDI control to develop our cutting-edge drone technology. At Maple Aviation we develop a unique Tail-Sitter Drone, that flies with one propeller only and is controlled in position via a flap-thrust-vectoring system. In this role, you will work closely with our research and development team to develop our Drone Flight Control System and test drone prototypes from concept to final production. You will utilize your skills in Flight Control System modeling, drafting, and coding to create a Flight Control Systems that meets our performance requirements, but also to lead and develop junior Engineers.

Design and programming of flight control algorithms for automatic and autonomous flight

Model building for flight dynamic processes and design of control and feedback control laws

Preparation and execution of flight tests with UAS systems

Analysis of flight data recordings as well as evaluation and processing of test results

Generation of code with i.e. Matlab Simulink and its integration into the FCS / autopilot framework

Supporting the certification of our product family and obtaining flight permits, e.g. for BVLOS flight projects

Collaboration in the further development of the product development process

Qualifikation

MA Sc., Dipl., Dr. in mechanical, aerospace, robotics, automotive, electric engineering or related field

4+ years of practical experience in Flight control system modeling and coding

Excellent knowledge in the field of flight mechanics, flight dynamic modelling and control engineering. You also have practical experience with model aircraft, evtols, multicopters and / or their subsystems.

Excellent knowledge of programming with Matlab/Simulink and Px4 is a must. Fluent handling of the programming language C and Git is also desirable.

Interested in model aircraft construction, drones or robotics and can't wait to implement and try out new ideas.

You are highly self-motivated and drive your area of responsibility forward independently. You teach us new things that holistically improve our team and make it more efficient.

We are an international team communicating in English (other language skills are also an advantage).
